Job Summary

We are looking for a seasoned Senior Technical Writer to contribute to our developer documentation for a wide range of MX products. This Technical Writer will have a direct role in carrying our documentation to the next level and overall improvement to the developer experience associated with our products. Candidates should have proven experience being a member of engineering and product management teams, driving documentation strategy for multiple products with little leadership assistance, and host strong knowledge of APIs, software development, and product management.

 

Job Duties

  • Lead and mentor other technical writers through MX technical writing processes, tools, and more.
  • Draft and develop documentation which includes release notes, developer guides, API reference material, in-app guidance, and other product documentation.
  • Develop documentation plans and information gathering activities to extract information from product teams.
  • Collaborate with multiple product teams (i.e., engineers and product managers) towards the goal to build unique solutions that empower others to be financially strong.
  • Work closely with the Marketing and Client Enablement teams to communicate product details.
  • Use independent judgment in significant technical issue evaluation and documentation.
  • Identify new documentation needs or opportunities.
  • Manage complex documentation projects with a focus on maintaining high standards for clarity, consistency, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Communicate with management and project stakeholders, keeping them informed of project status, including conflicts and resolution plans.

 

Job Requirements

  • 5+ years of industry equivalent experience (experience in software or engineering internships or employment)
  • Experiencing owning technical writing processes and mentoring others.
  • Demonstrated knowledge writing for a technical audience such as specifications for software or APIs
  • Demonstrated knowledge writing documentation for non-technical audiences such as user guides, support documentation, knowledge-base articles, etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge writing for internal and external audiences
  • Knowledge of data formats and markup languages such as JSON, YAML,Markdown, and HTML (experience with Ruby is a plus)
  • Bachelor’s Degree at a minimum, preferably in a technical field, English, or Communications
