Head of Developer Experience

Website Aklivity

Stream Data Anywhere

Job description

Let’s shape the Future of API connectivity!

Aklivity is pioneering next-generation API infrastructure for real-time data. We’re focused on developer success, bottom-up adoption, and open source.

Our efforts center around an open source API Gateway called Zilla. Zilla provides a unified, external interface to event-driven services and data by enabling developers to expose event-streams over their Open or AsyncAPI of choice. Zilla is the easiest way to create, deploy and manage APIs that power modern digital initiatives.

The Aklivity team is a seasoned group of innovators and doers that previously helped pioneer and commercialize WebSocket. We’re backed by prominent Silicon Valley venture capital funds and leading industry experts.

The Impact You’ll Have

Contribute to Zilla’s adoption and growth.
Create engaging and highly technical content (tutorials, blog posts, code examples, etc.)
Collaborate with engineering teams to discuss the technologies and workflows, and create top-notch documentation.
Work with customers, product, support, and engineering to determine the best set of features to support and the best ways to support them.
Speak at online and offline events.

The Superpowers You Possess

Previous JVM-based software engineering experience or 5+ years of developer advocacy.
Ability to distill complex technical concepts into clear, comprehensive, developer-focused documentation.
Meticulous project management skills, ability to collaborate in remote environments, high bar for quality of output.
Experience diving into large, unknown domains and being able to incrementally drive projects to success.
A collaborative, innovative, and solution-oriented attitude.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Technical Communications, or related experience.
Kindly Highlight (if applicable)
Experience working with Apache Kafka® (event streaming), databases, or distributed systems.
Exposure to API management.
Technical writing experience.

What We Offer

[INNOVATION] We’re building a next generation API layer for event-driven architectures. This layer has to power some of the most demanding web/mobile, hybrid IT and IoT use cases, and so cutting edge performance and security are a must.

[OPEN SOURCE] Our efforts and technology are open sourced. We actively contribute to the community and have previously helped pioneer and standardize WebSocket.

[EQUITY] We’re well positioned to capitalize on a big, expanding market. Besides salary and insurance benefits, we offer generous stock options because we firmly believe that the success of a company is rooted in its people.

[REMOTE-FRIENDLY] Our Palo Alto,CA HQ is located inside Playground Global — a 100,000 sq ft campus and studio with state of the art amenities and perks, such as complimentary Michelin-star-chef prepared meals. However, we’re also serious about remote work because it’s not WHERE, but HOW work is done that ultimately matters.

[LEARNING] Be obsessively curious, take risks, try new things and never stop learning — we’re committed to supporting your personal growth!

[TEAMSHIP] It’s not enough to love what you do, you have to love who you do it with! We’re a tight knight group that values the journey as much as the destination.
