About Wesley’s talk

Tell us about the talk that you are planning to give at DevRelCon London 2023

I’ve been in DevRel for a little over five years. My opening keynote at DevRelCon London 2023 will be touching on some of the adversities that we in Developer Relations face, anything from gaslighting, to a changing economy, to being part of a system that is continuously changing.

Why should people attend your talk? What should they expect to take away from it?

My talk is going to give some tools and tips about persevering, and also leaning on each other to make sure that no one is left behind. We have a very high bar in terms of gaining the trust and validity amongst developers. I think we should use this to make sure that we are a shining example of how to take care of people, not just the developers that we serve or the companies we are employed by, but also our colleagues in the DevRel space.

What are you most looking forward to at this year’s DevRelCon London event?

My first DevRelCon was in 2019 in San Francisco. It was in a period where I was between careers in the DevRel space. When I attended in 2019, it was like nothing I had ever experienced before. I left with inspiration, information, and validation

There’s nothing like being amongst your peers and colleagues. The fact that it is ‘in person’ after the pandemic. Just physically being around other people doing DevRel for different companies will be invaluable, both to feed my knowledge and to feed my soul. Especially now with the AI revolution that’s going on.

So, I can’t wait to be there. I would highly recommend attending DevRelCon London 2023 to anyone interested in either jump starting their career in DevRel or deepening their knowledge.
