Looking forward to DevRelCon London 2019

The fifth edition of DevRelCon London is just a couple of weeks away. Here’s a preview of what to expect.

Three days of dev rel and more

For the first time DevRelCon London this year will take place over three full days:

  • Monday 9th December: a full day of training in dev rel and developer experience
  • Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th: two full days of conference, unconference, and networking sessions

If you want to dive deep on dev rel topics, then the training day will be ideal for you. We have a limited number of places left to hear from experts including:

  • Mary Thengvall on metrics
  • myself (Matthew Revell) on developer community theory and practice
  • Joe Nash on social media for developer audiences
  • Cristiano Betta and Alyss Noland on developer experience
  • Carla Teixeira on market and user research for developer-targeted products.

Each session lasts half a day, so you’ll be able to take part in two sessions across the training day.

Three tracks at the conference

On the main conference days we’re going bigger than ever before. We’ll be back at the QEII Centre, in Westminster, with three concurrent tracks! Alongside our usual dev rel and DX tracks we’ll also have dedicated documentation and community tracks this year:

  • Day 1 track topics:
    • Dev rel strategy
    • Day to day dev rel
    • Developer outreach
    • Documentation
  • Day 2 track topics:
    • Community management
    • Developer experience and APIs
    • New ways of thinking about dev rel
    • Unconference.

Check out the full schedule to plan your DevRelCon trip.

In total, we’ll have more than 50 sessions, with speakers such as the founder of Techladies, Elisha Tan, Google’s Head of Global Programs (DevRel Ecosystem), Uttam Tripathi, MongoDB’s Head of Engineering Communications, Avery Rosen, Mozilla’s Jessica Rose, and many more.

Three chances to network

As is now becoming customary for DevRelCon, we’ll end the whole thing with a karaoke after-party sponsored by Bose. You’re not obliged to sing, or even be near the singers!

On the Monday evening, the London DevRel meet-up group will be hosting a social get together. Tuesday sees the official DevRelCon reception, sponsored by Google, and there’ll also by a Community Managers meet-up nearby.

Open to everyone

DevRelCon has always been an event by dev rel practitioners for dev rel practitioners. Tickets are available now and, if you’re from an under-represented group, you can apply for a diversity ticket funded by Google’s Open Source Programs Office. If you feel you don’t belong to an under-represented group but you can’t afford to buy a ticket at the standard price, get in touch and we’ll see what we can do.
