Register now for this year’s Developer Experience Conference (DevXcon SF 2018), June 4-5, 2018 in San Francisco!

I wrote about how we have invited huge industry thought leaders such as Jono Bacon, Bear Douglas, Matt Asay, Leslie Hawthorn and Peter Merholz (with many more to come) to bring their expertise to the vision of this year’s conference.

That vision is two-fold:

  1. Advance practitioner experience in areas such as developer marketing, advocacy, and community building
  2. Develop an understanding of the connection between these areas of developer experience and product design and management

In reference to the second part of our vision, here are a few of the discussion areas that I aim to cover through our speaker sessions, unconf discussions, and informal conversations:

  • Is there such a thing as developer-specific UX?
  • How do we categorize different types of developers and technical users, and then how do we decide what to reveal or abstract for those different users in our product and UI?
  • How does what we reveal or abstract help developers be more productive (the end goal!)?
  • How does what we reveal or abstract reveal our authenticity, or how might it backfire?
  • Do we create dashboards that devs don’t care about? 🙂

So, register now to meet our speakers and join the discussion! This is a volunteer-run event and we do it out of our passion for developer experience, dev rel and community. We also thank major sponsors, such as GitHub, who believe in our vision and generously give us support 💖. I look forward to seeing you at the event!

Best,

Tamao Nakahara
