Tell us about the talk that you are planning to give at DevRelCon London 2023
My talk will be essentially focused around stage fright and how we can tackle it better.
When we look at a lot of the work and the fundamental skills that practitioners in developer relations possess, I think public speaking and communication are two of them. It can be scary to be in front of a lot of people, it can cause anxiety. However, since this is a key skill that we need to be able to do our job, it is something that we need to learn to do well, and that means knowing how to overcome stage fright.
Why should people attend your talk? What should they expect to take away from it?
I think learning how to tackle stage fright is definitely highly beneficial to everyone in DevRel. My talk will help attendees grow as public speakers, and as representatives for their communities.
What are you most looking forward to at this year’s DevRelCon London event?
The one thing that I’m very fond of at DevRelCon events is that they really bring together people with different sets of experiences, and from many different places. I have been fortunate enough over the last couple of years to attend a few DevRelCons online, as well as offline, and I think the interactions with other people are definitely my favourite part. There’s so much to learn from meeting people. I just love coming to DevRelCons for the people. That’s my main reason for attending, and what I’m looking forward to the most at DevRelCon London 2023.
