How many hats should a DevRel wear?

To say DevRel is many things to many people would be an understatement.

Our roles can vary greatly, and so do our backgrounds, and organisations we work in. How do you then jump between a role where you work on all the things to one where your focus is a lot narrower? (or the opposite).

This talk from DevRelCon 2021 covers Zan’s personal experience of going from juggling both many hats (doing everything DevRel plus DevX, plus Product, plus Engineering…) to carrying the weight of a single large hat (regional Dev Advocate), and how he managed to succeed in and enjoy both while avoiding burnout.
